Yorkshire Turf Cakes Recipe |

flour |
8oz
butter |

teaspoon salt |

| Rub
half the butter into the flour and salt, mix to a stiff dough
with water. Roll out, dot with bits of butter, then fold and
roll. Continue as for puff pastry, and finally cut into small
rounds about half an inch thick. Grease a deep frying pan and
put it in the cakes. Heap burning turves under and top of the
pan. Alternatively, bake in a hot oven. Bake until golden. |
