jam, warmed |

| Sift
the flour, baking powder and salt together, rub in the butter,
then add the sugar. Mix to a stiff dropping consistency with
the egg and a little milk. Divide the mixture into two. Roll
into rounds ½ inch thick. Spread the warmed jam on one
half, cover with the other. Pinch the edges together, brush
with beaten egg and spinkle liberally with sugar. Bake in a
Swiss roll rin at 350ºF (Mark 4) for 30 minutes. |
